lovers gonna love

On Monday my vulva undies were featured on Regretsy.com - it was only a matter of time really, I mean vaginas are Regretsy's bread and butter. Words got pretty heated in the comments section of that post, but all the exposure brought over 5,000 visits to my shop, 15 sales, lots and lots of love and just one hate mail (hate mail - for real!) - all in about three days! I'm here to express my gratitude to everyone who purchased one of my items and/or had words of love to share with me, friends and strangers. thankyou! thankyou! thankyou! You guys are the best! I'm sending so much love back your way.

This message I received sort of sums up the nastiest of what was being slung on Regretsy:

O_O Wow. There's really not much more for me to say in response to that.

Anyway, I started the vulvas all the way back in my last year of school and ended up making a large set of patches and undies a few summers back. More recently when I decided shift my focus to prints and watercolors I took most of the vulva items out of my shop, but relisted them when there was so much interest from the Regretsy post. So what's left is all there is or will be! Get it while you can!

THANK YOU again everyone for all the LOVE!!

snail lover

A sweet little snail lover to accompany our slug buddy.

Awwwe! Both slug + snail are linoleum block prints inspired by drawings I had made previously for my sweetie. This is the first time that I've used the carved negative space on the block for a textural effect and I really like it! I was also much more casual with the way I carved these two, I didn't over think the drawing-to-carving transition and just worked the block intuitively. I'm really happy with the result!

Both are available in my shop and so far have been a hit! Thanks guys!

Just a few watercolor doodles to pass the time. On paper bags, naturally. The first is a little light pattern I saw in my minds eye whilst waking from a nap and the second is a hologram, sort of. (It uses lasers fired from a ray gun to create a hologram of one's heart, which I don't think is completely realistic - but hey, a girl can dream right?)

(Also, this is my 100th post! Seems strange and rather uneventful. Perhaps my 101st post will be more grand?)

Many thanks to Itzhak Bentov for explaining holograms in a way that i FINALLY! understand.

Throwback.

When I was a youngster I collected model horses obsessively. At its peak my collection numbered 300+ holy moly!! Since then my collector nature has diffused itself -- I mainly stash art supplies, fabric and yarn...with a few digressions (a lot can fall into the category of art supply). For real though, I think my days of hardcore collecting are behind me, but that doesn't mean I can't dip my toes in the water. What I'm getting at here is this:

Isn't he just GORGEOUS!! Made by Karen of Song and Branch on Etsy. (Go check this shop out, you won't regret it! All sorts of animal buddies + more!) I am so in love. So in love my brain has stopped and I don't know where to go from here........ slippery slope! Now I won't do it all the time, but the thought of rewarding myself with one of these little buddies every now and again is mighty appealing.

something to soak in...

I usually try to mind my own beeswax when blogging, but this is too beautiful not to post. A short film by Jackie Davis with music by my very most favorite band Purple Rhinestone Eagle.
