a big deal

Ok friends, it's been quiet over here because I've been working on a big exciting new step in my life//art -- I've decided to sell small original watercolor paintings straight from my art journal!! I just finished listing 8 in my shop, GO SEE! I think it's looking pretty sharp over there...

I've been afraid to do this for quite some time, but recently I said "f-it! painting little watercolors is my favorite thing and I just want to do it all the time, so WHY NOT??!" And there you have it.

I've decided to sell them for just $12 because kick-ass art should be attainable by all, don't you think?

I hope this is exciting for you guys too, I don't want to be having all the fun by myself. Take a peek and let me know what you think, don't forget to spread the word if you dig it!

p.s. I feel like I should have more to say on this subject but I'm a lil tired and out of it. If I've left questions unanswered please ask them!

sketchbook empowerment

This morning I happened upon a blog post I found most awesome and share-worthy. Danielle of The Merriweather Council shared some tips for making that new (or not) sketchbook or journal less intimidating. It took such courage for me to finally dive into my first journal and really start expressing myself visually. The intimidation is recurring with each new journal, sometimes with each new page (!) but it just takes practice and a lil bit of a "well... fuck-it, here I go" attitude. Danielle's tips are totally legit and effective, and the principles behind them can be applied to just about any creative medium. Read her post and bonus! see an adorable pic of the author with blank-page anxiety.

april star*cast

the Three Leaps of the Gazelle! I'll be looking for those, what wonderful imagery. The Lyrid Meteor shower is coming up on the 22nd, which reminds me of this:

(thanks, design squish)

Which can also be seen here:

It's terribly difficult to take a decent picture of one's own back so I feel this shot really doesn't do it justice, but you get the idea. And a cover up no less! Well done Matt Lentz!

dry {enough}

I printed the covers for my zine almost two weeks ago and they weren't dry enough to fold until today, and I still got a lil ink on my fingers! It could be because I used super lovely, but non-porous, hand-painted wallpaper for the stock -- or because maybe I added a little too much crisco to my ink. :/

Either way, I prolly shoulda used that drying time to print and trim the pages of the zine, buuuuuut I didn't! Maybe I'll do that today. Or maybe I'll celebrate this long awaited sunshine with a lil tequila.

it's different everyday

I'm adrift today. No motion, no momentum. At least the sky is pretty.
